En 1883, Claude Monet s'installe dans une maison de maître à Giverny. Recherchant le calme et l'inspiration, le peintre y dessine un jardin "japonisant" immortalisé par ses célèbres "Nymphéas".

Je vous encourage vivement à visiter cette célèbre propriété.  La mi-mai est la meilleure période pour admirer les jardins en fleurs !

Le musée des impressionnismes (ancien musée d’Art américain) propose quant à lui une superbe exposition : Bonnard en Normandie

Près de 80 œuvres (peintures et dessins) seront réunies autour de photographies et de nombreux documents, archives pour évoquer la période normande de l’artiste qui séjourna près de Giverny de 1910 à 1938.

- courte visite de Vernon, jolie petite ville qui a gardé son aspect médiéval : 

• Le Vieux-Moulin, installé sur les piles du pont médiéval à Vernonnet, dernier monument au monde de ce type. Il est aussi le symbole de la ville.
• La tour des archives, vestige de l'ancien château de Vernon.
• Les remparts et enceintes de la ville.
• La maison du Temps Jadis datant de 1450-1460, elle abrite l'Office de tourisme.
• Vieilles rues bordées de maisons à pans de bois datant du XII^e, XVI^e et XVII^e siècle.

- parcours à pied d'une heure trente environ sur les hauteurs de la Seine jusqu'à Giverny,

- visites du village médiéval de Giverny (notamment église et tombe de Monet), vers 11h30 de la propriété de Claude Monet (durée de 1h à 1h30) et/ou du musée des impressionnismes.

- ceux d'entre vous désirant s'attarder à Giverny (ou les plus pressés!) pourront rejoindre la gare de Vernon en prenant le bus-navette pour Vernon (4€ A-R), les autres me suivront à pied jusqu'à cette même gare.

Modalités pratiques :

SVP n'attendez pas le dernier moment pour acheter votre billet aller-retour SNCF pour VERNON: gares ou boutiques SNCF ...   Il y a souvent la queue aux guichets de la gare Paris-Saint-Lazare !

Soyez bien chaussé  pour la marche et apportez un pique-nique avec boisson.

Fidèle à mon désir de permettre au plus grand nombre de participer à cette sortie, je vous propose de nous y rendre en train. La gare la plus proche se trouve à Vernon (à 75 km  dans l'ouest de Paris). Achetez deux  billets (1 aller + 1 retour) pour VERNON.

ALLER  :  Le seul train possible est malheureusement très tôt !

Rendez-vous donc à la gare de Paris-Saint-Lazare à 8 h 05 au tout début du quai (côté gare) du train "corail intercités" n°13103 en direction de Rouen   DEPART PREVU A   8 h 20.  Arrivée à Vernon à  9h 05.

RETOURS : :

- pour ceux rentrant à pied (4 km), départ de Giverny à décider en fonction des desiderata du groupe : choix du train !

- pour ceux désirant prendre le bus n°241 : départ de Giverny à 14 h25 - arrivée devant la gare de Vernon à 14h45  (ou navette de 16h25 arrivée Vernon à 16H40 puis train de 16H53)

Train de retour depuis Vernon à 14h53 qui arrivera à 15h40 à Paris- Saint-Lazare. Il y a aussi un train à 16h53 (arrivée Paris 17h40).

In 1883, Claude Monet moved into a mansion in Giverny. Searching for calm and inspiration, the artist drew from its "Japanese-style" garden, immortalized by his famous "Nympheas" (Water Lilies).

Our program:

- Short visit to Vernon, a pretty little town that has retained its medieval appearance:

• The Old Mill , built on the piers of the medieval bridge in Vernonnet, the last monument in the world of this type. It is also the symbol of the city.

• The Tower of the Archives , a remnant of the ancient castle of Vernon.

• The ramparts and city walls.
• The House of Yesteryear, dating from 1450-1460; it houses the Tourist Office .
• Old streets lined with wood-framed houses dating from the twelfth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

- Walking tour of about a hour and a half on the heights above the Seine to Giverny,

- From about 11:30, visit the medieval village of Giverny (including the church and tomb of Monet), the properties of Claude Monet (duration 1h to 1h30) and/or the Museum of Impressionism.

- Those of you who want to linger at Giverny (or those who are tired!) can rejoin the group at the Vernon station by taking the shuttle bus to Vernon (3 € more or less), the rest will follow me walking to that station.

Practicalities: NO pre-registration necessary - just be on time for the rendezvous!

Please do not wait until the last minute to buy your round-trip ticket for the VERNON train at SNCF railway stations or shops ... There are often long lines at the counters of the station Paris-Saint-Lazare!

Wear good shoes for walking and bring a picnic with drinks.

In keeping with my desire to allow as many to participate in this excursion, I suggest we get there by train. The nearest station is located in Vernon (75 km west of Paris). Buy two tickets (1 round-trip) for VERNON.

GOING THERE   : Unfortunately, the only train available is very soon!

See you at the Gare Paris-Saint Lazare at 8 am at the beginning of the track (next to the station) for the train "Corail Intercités" No. 13103 towards Rouen, scheduled at 8:20 am.  Arrival in Vernon at 9:05.

RETURNING:

- For those returning home on foot (4 km), we will decide which train you prefer !

- For those wishing to take the bus No. 241: Departure from Giverny at 14 h25 - Arriving at the Vernon station at 14:45. Or 16h25 for the train of 16H53.

Train from Vernon at 14:53 to arrive at 15h40 at Paris Saint-Lazare. There is also a train at 16h53 (arriving in Paris at 17h53).
