the magnificent forest of Dourdan in her dress of autumnal colors and to pick
up a few chestnuts - they taste good at home when roasted !
If you're tempted, bring a bag and gloves. The outer shells have very sharp prickers!
Randonnée n° 5 du mardi 9 novembre 2010 : Dourdan, une forteresse royale en Ile-de-France et la forêt de l’Ouye
Au programme :
· une randonnée dans deux forêts qui vous séduiront de par leur beauté : la forêt royale de Dourdan et la forêt de l’Ouye (baptisée ainsi par le roi Louis VII qui retrouva ses compagnons de chasse grâce à son ouïe....)
· un village historique tapi entre les deux forêts
· les jolis bords de l'Orge
· Pour finir, nous visiterons la ville médiévale de Dourdan http://otdourdan.free.fr/ : les ruelles pavées qui convergent vers un superbe château-fort, une impressionnante église fortifiée gothique, des halles anciennes, des jardins,....
Edifiée sur les rives de l'Orge et site stratégique sur la route du blé reliant la Beauce à Paris, Dourdan a joué un rôle dans presque toutes les guerres de l'histoire de France. Berceau du pouvoir royal, la ville se caractérise par une puissante forteresse édifiée en 1220 par Philippe Auguste. Ville historique encore entourée de ses remparts, Dourdan est aujourd'hui le témoignage d'un passé toujours vivant et d'un patrimoine architectural fort bien conservé.

Achetez un billet aller-retour pour DOURDAN à votre station de métro.
Désolée de vous fixer un rendez-vous de si bonne heure mais c’est le seul train rapide du matin (les autres –ceux du RER C mettent 1 h 20 !) et vous aurez ainsi tout le temps de visiter la ville historique.
Rendez-vous à la Gare SNCF d'Austerlitz - Grandes Lignes à 8h15 précises devant le panneau du début de quai (côté gare) du train de 08h25 en direction de Châteaudun qui arrivera (en 37 minutes) à 09h02 à DOURDAN.
Retour : nous prendrons le train à la gare de DOURDAN de 14h30 qui arrivera à Paris Austerlitz à 15h34 et en prenant la ligne 10 vous serez à la station Emile Zola à 16h03.
Autre solution les trains RER C à Dourdan à 15h01, 15h31, 16h01… Arrivée à la gare d’Austerlitz 1h02 plus tard soit respectivement à 16h03,16h33, 17h03…
Vous pouvez bien sûr continuer par le même train RER C jusqu’à une autre station plus proche de votre destination !
Randonnée # 5 for Tuesday 9 November 2010: Dourdan, a royal fortress in Ile-de-France and the forest of the Ouye
The program :
1. One “randonnée” walk through two forests which will seduce you with their beauty : the royal forest of Dourdan and the forest of the Ouye River (named this by king Louis VII who reunited with his hunting companions thanks to its noise - ouïe ....)
2. a historic village squatting between the two forests
3. the pretty banks of the Orge River

Built on the banks of the Orge River and strategically located on the "Wheat Road" connecting the Beauce agricultural region to Paris, Dourdan has played a role in almost all the wars throughout the history of France. Cradle of royal power, the village is characterized by a powerful fortress built in 1220 by Philippe Auguste. An historic city still surrounded by its walls, Dourdan is today witness to a vibrant past and the heritage of extremely well preserved architecture.

As always, wear good walking shoes and bring your picnic lunch. Buy a round-trip ticket (aller-retour) for DOURDAN at your Metro station.
I'm sorry to set such an early meeting time, but this is the only direct train of the morning (the others –such as the RER C take 1 h 20 to get there !) and this will give you time to visit the historical city.
Meet at Gare SNCF d'Austerlitz - Grandes Lignes at 8h15 in front of the display board (station side) of train at 08h25 going in the direction of Châteaudun which will arrive (in 37 minutes) at 09h02 at DOURDAN.
Return : train from DOURDAN at 14h30 which will arrive at Paris Austerlitz at 15h34 then taking metro line 10 station Emile Zola at 16h03.
Other option RER C trains run from DOURDAN at 15h01, 15h31… Arriving at Gare d’Austerlitz 1h02 later, or at 16h03, 16h33… respectively… You can certainly continue on the RER C to a station closer to your destination!
